Royal LePage Lannon Realty Basketeers 2022
Everyone deserves to live in a home free from violence.
While all our lives are slowly getting back to normal from the effects of the COVID pandemic, the rates and severity of domestic abuse continue to rise. Economic stress, life pressures and general anxiety have escalated abusive behaviours and caused more women to be fearful for their lives and the lives of their children.
- Last year in Canada, 1 woman was killed every 2.5 days.
- 67% of Canadians know at least one woman who has been physically or sexually assaulted.
Let’s change that! Our local shelters - The Faye Peterson House and Beendigen - are continuing to keep women and children safe during these unprecedented times while helping them rebuild lives that are free from violence and abuse. On top of receiving the necessities of life, survivors receive in-house counseling, support programs, and life-skills training that help them move forward through their traumas towards healing. The Royal LePage Lannon Realty Basketeers program supports women as they transition from the shelter into their new home. We believe that by providing them with love and support from their community, they will be less likely to return to their abusive partner.
You can help by participating in our Basketeers campaign!
