Welcome to my Ecuador Challenge for Shelter fundraising page!

This will be my 4th RLP Shelter Trek in support of women escaping domestic violence through Interval House Women's Shelter in Toronto. In 2017 I first trekked Iceland, 2019 - The Sahara Desert, 2021 - The Purcell Mountains in BC. Ecuador will be very challenging due to the altitude & varied terrain, but I look forward to the challenge as it pales in comparison to what women in abusive living situations go through each & everyday. My reasons for trekking are very personal. Sadly, domestic violence is happening every day and to women from all walks of life & backgrounds. Funds & awareness are so greatly needed. As a mom of four amazing children & a Realtor who has worked on more than a few occasions with women escaping violent domestic situations, I have seen first hand how Shelters like Interval House truly save lives, stop the cycle of violence, give hope & help women & their children safely rebuild their lives. 

Women’s shelters in Canada need our support now more than ever to fund their life-saving and life-changing work. As we emerge from the COVID pandemic, shelters across the country are reporting rising rates of domestic violence and more women than ever who are reaching out for help. While most of our lives have returned to normal, there are women and children in all corners of the country who are now fleeing the danger within their homes and working to rebuild their future after experiencing domestic violence.

In November 2023, I will be heading to Ecuador to trek 5 days towards one of the highest active volcanoes in the world! During this high-altitude adventure, I will be hiking long days across varied terrain in unpredictable mountain weather. I’ll be camping in a tent and going without cell service, electricity, bathroom facilities and other comforts of home. This trek will not be easy but it will be immensely worthwhile. Each step I take and every dollar I raise will support courageous women and children in my community who are seeking safety and hope for a life free from abuse.
