Our local women's shelter, Kamloops Y Women's Emergency Shelter is continuing to provide front-line support to keep women and children safe during this pandemic. Unfortunately, countries around the globe are reporting an increase in domestic violence reports, and women’s shelters across the province are beginning to see signs of this here. Being forced to self-isolate with an abuser is tough enough, but when coupled with the added financial and emotional stress this pandemic has brought, the risk of abuse skyrockets. We must work together to ensure that every woman and child has the opportunity to live without fear. Our Women's Shelter needs our help now more than ever.
You can help by participating in Flock a Friend 4 Shelter!
WHAT: An entirely socially-distant-friendly fundraiser for The Kamloops Y Women's Emergency Shelter
WHEN: June 3rd - August 1st
HOW: Donate $50 and a flock of 12 flamingos will be delivered on your behalf to a lawn anywhere in Kamloops! Make a $100 donation and we'll deliver a "double flock" of 24 flamingos!
Flocks are delivered and set up by a team of volunteers at the intended address within a few days of ordering, and will remain for 2 days before being picked up, cleaned, and passed along to the next lucky recipient. Those who are "flocked" are encouraged to share the happy news on social media using #flockafriend4shelter and to “flock it forward” by making a donation and flocking someone else.
To donate: Click "Make a Donation" on the left hand side and then "Donate Without Sponsoring a Team or Individual."
100% of donations will be directed to Kamloops Y Emergency Women's Shelter via the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. After you make your donation, you'll be contacted to arrange for the delivery of your flock!
Thank you for your support!
Note: The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation issues tax receipts in February for gifts of $20 or more made in the previous calendar year.
